1 3/4" x 1 1/4" white bronze*, double-sided Hamsa on a sterling silver chain.
Side one prominently features a bright, highly reflective orb at its center to refract and repel negative energy. The reverse side has a domed Hebrew letter Shin — see the meaning of its highly symbolic & protective qualities below.
The Hamsa serves as a spiritual shield, creating an energetic force field between you and potential harm.
The symbol traces back over 3000 years to ancient Mesopotamia & is common to all the regions' religions and cultures.
In Jewish tradition, the Hamsa is often called the Hand of Miriam, honoring Moses and Aaron's sister, who played a crucial role in the Exodus story. Miriam watched over baby Moses in his basket on the Nile, led the women in celebration after crossing the Red Sea, and provided water for the Israelites through a miraculous well that traveled with them in the desert. Her protective, nurturing presence makes her a fitting figure for a protective amulet.
The five fingers of the Hamsa connect to the five books of the Torah—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy—suggesting that the wearer carries divine law as protection. Some interpretations link the fingers to the five senses, urging mindfulness in how we engage with the world.
The Hebrew letter “shin” (ש) often appears on Jewish Hamsas. This letter begins “Shaddai,” one of the names of God meaning “Almighty.” It also begins “Shalom” (peace) and “Shomer” (guardian). The shin transforms the Hamsa into a vessel for divine names and their associated powers.
*White bronze is a stunning metal alloy with a silver-like complexion and subtle undertones of color. Depending on the lighting environment, it can be difficult to tell the difference between white bronze and silver.
